Project Background
Hawaii lies in the central Pacific, about 4,000 km from the U.S. mainland. Most fresh food arrives by long-haul ocean freight — long transit times, high losses and high prices — so fresh mushrooms have long been in short supply locally. Meanwhile, the tropical marine climate is hot and humid year-round, making conventional grow rooms difficult and expensive to run.
In 2024, a Hawaii-based agribusiness purchased 5 units of our 40ft smart mushroom-growing containers. Shipped as standard ocean containers straight from our factory in China, the units were installed and commissioned on arrival and are now in production — a landmark project marking our containers' expansion into overseas markets.
Our Solution: 40ft Smart Mushroom-Growing Container
Designed for the dual challenge of cross-ocean shipping plus a tropical climate, this batch was configured to overseas project standards from container body to climate control.
- Standard container, direct ocean shipping — built to standard 40ft ocean-container dimensions: book a shipping slot directly and freight from our factory to Hawaii in one piece; install and start growing right after customs clearance.
- Climate control built for the tropics — cooling and dehumidification calibrated for hot, humid conditions, keeping the chamber stable whatever the island weather does.
- Vertical racking, high-density growing — multi-tier racking grows upward, multiplying output per square meter and offsetting freight and land costs.
- Sealed, clean growing chamber — an airtight chamber keeps out pests, mould and ocean salt spray; with filtered fresh-air supply, mushrooms grow clean and uniform.
- Remote O&M across time zones — monitor and adjust chamber conditions from a phone or computer, with cloud-synced data; our China-based technical team provides remote guidance, so support is never out of reach.
- Scale unit by unit — validate the local market with a small batch first, then add units as demand grows, keeping investment fully under control.
On Site
The five containers stand on open ground at the Hawaii farm, elevated on supports and ready to run once connected to power. They have withstood both tropical heat and humidity and the marine environment, maintaining a stable growing climate inside and producing mushrooms on schedule.
The customer spoke highly of the build quality, climate-control performance and the smooth cross-ocean delivery. The Hawaii project proves out the complete overseas pathway: ocean freight → overseas installation → local operation.
